About Jazz Lates
Jazz Lates is a series of intimate Jazz events that take place in our wonderful living room. On Saturday 29th of February it is with great pleasure that we welcome Harry Johnstone to the living room stage.
About the artist
Originally from the Lake District, Harry has come down to London to establish himself as distinguished young trumpeter in the jazz scene . His quintet has performs at the world famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, amongst other prestigious club around London.
Harry first started playing the trumpet when he was 8 years old, and quickly found a passion for music joining a plethora of ensembles throughout his school life and then at the Royal Northern College of Music and then the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During this time, Harry had worked with Motown legend, Kim Wester, who is known for her work with Marvin Gaye (‘It Takes Two’). Harry also was fortunate enough to have been a winner of the BBC 2014 ‘Young composers’ competition’; this experience involved Harry’s compositions being performed on the radio by musicians from the ‘BBC Symphony Orchestra’ as part of the proms.
He has had the great honour of performing alongside some of greatest jazz musicians in the UK and abroad such as: Quentin Collins, Sam Braysher, Steve Brown, Alec Dankworth, Steve Waterman and others and has also performed at many notable venues: Ronnie Scott’s, Sage(Gateshead), Bridgewater hall, Band on the Wall.
