Jazz Lates is a series of intimate Jazz events that take place in our wonderful living room. On Saturday 31st August it is with great pleasure that we welcome back Jay Phelps to the living room stage with his fantastic new project, Psychoticbumpschool.
About the artist
Expect an unusual Jazz Lates edition, not one for the purists but certainly one for the real music lovers as you will be treated to a whole new world of wonderful cross-genre genius brought to you by this electric duo that is Oliver Night and Ninety One fam Jay Phelps.
Psychoticbumpschool is a band that uniquely combines Broken Beat, Afrobeat, Funky House and Jazz to make a brand new sound.
Imagine if Bugs in the attic, Fela Kuti and Miles Davis had a baby. With the current rise of the UK Jazz scene, ‘PBS’ fits in a category of their own as DJ/Producer Oliver Night blends his beats with the live band led by Caanadian trumpeter Jay Phelps.
Night has been a big part of London’s underground broken beat scene for years and plays a key role in the movement today, while Phelps is a key figure on the Jazz scene here in the UK and internationally. They combine their skills to creat Psychoticbumpschool – prepare for a night of deep sounds with a hard groove.
