About the artist

Will Rees-Jones is a London/Somerset based saxophonist and composer, currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a scholarship. He previously attended Wells Cathedral School with tutelage from Andy Tweed, Ed Leaker and Karen Street as well as being part of the National Youth Jazz Collective. Now in London Will is mentored by Mark Lockheart, Gareth Lockrane and Iain Ballamy, as well as many other British jazz Icons.

He has performed in numerous prestigious venues across the UK such as the Royal Albert Hall, Old Street Records, Barbican Hall and the Paradise Ballroom at Boomtown Festival 2019 with players such as Jason Rebello, Iain Ballamy, Julian Joseph, John Turville, Julian Arguilles and James Maddren.

Will is now exploring new creative outlets forming two new bands whilst in London, writing new compositions as well as playing in many groups i.e. Swing Machine Big Band, GBH Big Band and a newly formed afrobeat collective led by guitarist Bryn Powell.

He also appears as part of “Return of the Native” which is a Somerset based elastic band with core members Hywel Davis, Luke Belcher and Luke McCarthy.

This time around Rees-Jones takes to the stage with his quintet, fleshing out an already full sound that will immerse the listener in the intimate setting of NinetyOne Living Room.
