About Original Roots

Original Roots is a series of live music events with a world-jazz fusion angle, that take place in our wonderful living room. On Friday 19thJuly it is with great pleasure that we welcome Almanaque to the living room stage.

About the artist

This week we welcome Almanaque a powerful musical journey into the depths of Brazilian and African grooves mixed with jazz and improvisation.

The band formed in 2015 and it has already played several Festivals and clubs around Europe. They regularly play at the Ronnie Scott club in London where they opened for Ivan Lins, Eumir Deodato and Pee wee Ellis among other artists.

The quartet is led by the guitarist Luca Boscagin who combines the acoustic tone of his nylon strings guitar (typical of the Brazilian tradition) with soundscapes, gritty sounds, delays and harmonisers.

Quentin Collins is one of the leading trumpet players in the UK, having played in festivals worldwide with his own quartet and with the bass player/composer Kyle Eastwood.

Matheus Nova and Raphael Delfino are one of the tightest rhythm sections around and they provide the beating heart of this groovy machine!

The band will play music by Milton Nascimento, one of the most influential and original artists on the MPB (Musica Popular Brazileira) scene with its own groovy arrangements and some original tunes.
