About the night
We are delighted to welcome the collective Higher Ground to the Living room once a month, featuring London’s most uplifting women on all sections.
Higher Ground is a unique and cosmic jam session: an open space to improvise, express yourself and connect through music. Founded in East London in 2019 by Sofia Grant, it aims to create a nurturing environment for up-and-coming artists of all disciplines and backgrounds to experiment.
We kick off our journey with a set from the house band, followed by an open jam for all that wish to play. Performers that want to jam should sign up upon arrival. Full backline will be provided including a guitar amp, bass amp, drumkit and keyboard, other instruments and breakables not provided.
Joining the Higher Ground Jam Session is Amy Gadiaga, singer, double bassist, composer and dancer born and raised in the outskirts of Paris. She spent her teenage years dancing before seeing music as a possibility for her. Inspired by artists such as The Jacksons, Stevie Wonder and Betty Carter, she taught herself bass guitar as a teen after saving enough money to buy one. Aged 18, Amy moved to London, where she is currently based, to pursue her musical studies. Now a fast rising star of the London jazz scene, her debut single ‘Everything I Do’ is out now!
