About the talk

Join us at Ninety One Living Room on Tuesday 17th May where Alexander Beiner will host a conversation with Sara Ness about the theories her work is based on, her experiences applying them to cultural polarisation, and what she’s learned in the process. After that we’ll put some of those techniques into practice, breaking out into small groups to test out some of the practices. There’ll be plenty of time after to socialise and have a drink.

Expect an evening for making authentic connections, honing your conversational skills and learning techniques as useful for talking about big cultural topics as they are for navigating your relationships.

What does it take to become a conversational master? What skills do we need to express ourselves authentically, listen intently, and jump between different perspectives like a ninja? It’s easier said than done, but the process of getting better at complex conversations – both personal or political – is essential for thriving in the times. It’s also quite a lot of fun.

Sara Ness has helped thousands of people hone these skills by pioneering a field called Authentic Relating. Her work draws on conversation games, a tool-kit of useful emotional and cognitive practices, and a multi-disciplinary approach to the science and psychology of connection.
