About Jazz Lates

Jazz Lates is a series of intimate Jazz events that take place in our wonderful living room. On Saturday 20th July it is with great pleasure that we welcome Weegee to the living room stage.

About the artist

“Tight, clever and completely different with stand-out musicians” – Something Else Reviews, 2019

Weegee draw on influences as diverse as classical film scores and progressive rock to deliver their own unique brand of jazz. The band met in 2016 and began writing compositions out of a desire to integrate modern influences into improvised music. Harmonic choruses with pop-like sensibilities are contrasted with energetic invention at velocity. Their songs are reminiscent of influences such as GoGo Penguin, Tigran Hamasyan, Bill Laurance and Avishai Cohen.

The band is comprised of the accomplished tenor and soprano saxophonist Joe Browne, Dave Johnson of Mesadorm and Chairfight on bass, Allan Shrestha on drums and Louis Bowden on piano and keyboards. They recorded their first video EP in 2017 and have gigged at various jazz venues around London since their inception.

Expect two sets of cinematic, salty-lipped, dark corner-skittering, rainclouded-horizon jazzwork from 9pm. Weegee looks forward to welcoming members of the London Jazz Meetup.
