About the artist

Jazz Band comprises Jake Burgess, Benedict Wood, Max Luthert and Jack Yardley. Some of London’s most in-demand side men are getting together to do a one-off totally improvised show, expecting deep grooves and lush harmonies with substantial melodic hooks.

Jake is a Norwich-born, London-based producer, composer and mix engineer. Having studied jazz saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Jake now works with an eclectic mix of bands and artists in a wide variety of styles and genres, with credits including Joy Crookes, Tom Grennan, Speech Debelle, Shabaka Hutchings, Sopa De Pedra, Luca Manning.

As one of the premier bassists of his generation in the UK, Max Luthert is known for his distinctive bass sound, and approach to improvisation and is quickly generating a name for himself as a composer and band leader. In the last couple of years, Max has been performing around the world with artists such as Zara McFarlane, Duncan Eagles, Moses Boyd, Ralph Wyld and Gabriel Zucker.

Benedict Wood is a guitarist hailing from London, playing with artists such as Matthew Read Trio, Tall Ince and Amalga to name but a few

Jack Yardley is the winner of the prestigious Help Musicians Postgraduate Jazz Award 2016 and was a scholarship recipient at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to which he graduated with First Class Honours. Jack is fast becoming one of the most in-demand sidemen in London, he has gained plaudits from stalwarts of the jazz community such as Martin Hathaway, Duncan Eagles and Ed Jones to name a few for his creative and innovative style which consistently pushes the music and musicians around him to the very limit.
